Rent Disney Vacation Club Points for September Trips and Save Big!

There's a great way to save on deluxe accommodations at Walt Disney World: renting Disney Vacation Club (DVC) points. DVC members own timeshare "points" that they can use for stays at Disney Vacation Club resorts. Sometimes owners are unable to use the points before they expire, so they will "rent" them to others.

Renting DVC points directly through an owner can be difficult and problematic (click here to learn more about that), but now there's a very easy, completely safe way to rent DVC points: through David's Vacation Club Rentals.

David normally charges $13 per point, which is a bargain. But if you're interested in vacationing at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa between September 1, 2011 and September 29, 2011, you can really save a ton through this EXCLUSIVE offer for MouseSavers Newsletter subscribers:

Through this special link, rent up to 197 points at $9 per point!

For example, you could get:

a week in a Deluxe Studio for only $855 (which would cost over $2,400 if you booked direct through Disney). a week in a 1-Bedroom Villa for only $1,647 (which would cost over $3,268 if you booked direct through Disney). 5 nights (Sun-Thurs) in a 2-Bedroom Villa for only $1,530 (which would cost over $3,206 if you booked direct through Disney).

Shorter and longer rentals are possible with this deal, too!

*New reservations only. Must be requested through the special link. 44 point minimum rental required. Offer good for stays at Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa only. Travel between 9/1/11-9/29/11. Must book a Studio, 1 Bedroom Villa or 2 Bedroom Villa (sorry, Treehouse not available). $65.00 part payment required at time of request (refunded if your dates are not available).

Walt Disney World News 16th Epcot International Food & Wine Festival Coming in September

Exotic cocktails will pair like a tropical daydream with fresh new tastes from more than one island paradise at the 16th Epcot International Food & Wine Festival September 30-November 13, 2011, at Walt Disney World Resort. The one-of-a-kind 45-day festival serves up international cuisine, culture and entertainment from six continents, with more than 25 international marketplaces featuring tapas-sized portions paired with beer, wine and inventive new cocktails.

Marketplace tasting menus offer variety and adventure for guests on a mission to tantalize their taste buds during a scenic stroll around the 40-acre World Showcase Lagoon. The adventure can take them to the festival's first Hawaii marketplace, which will cook up Kalua pork sliders and tuna poke with seaweed salad and lotus root chips to team with a refreshing Seven Tiki Mai Tai or a Kona Longboard or Pipeline beer. A new Caribbean Islands marketplace will serve ropa vieja with rice and jerk-spiced chicken with mango salsa. A beverage menu featuring a frozen Dragon Berry Colada and frozen Rock Coconut Mojito is sure to conjure steel-drum fantasies.

With a swing across the Atlantic, guests will be transported to the new Portugal marketplace, where the Portugal Wine Bar will offer best sips to pair with calamari salad with olives and smoked paprika. The Scandinavia marketplace will return after a hiatus with a fresh new Xante Sunshine cocktail made from Xante pear and cognac liquer. And the Canada marketplace will introduce a sweet treat: apple ice wine.

Festival guests can make a day of circumnavigating the World Showcase Promenade, grazing and sipping as they go. Tapas-sized portions of regional specialties run $3 to $8 each, and recommended wines, cocktails and beers make perfect pairings at each marketplace. For quicker marketplace visits, guests can purchase a festival-themed mini-Disney Gift Card that can be worn on a wristband and loaded and reloaded at several park locations.

Live daily entertainment showcases many cultures with music, acrobatics and improv performances along the promenade. Evening Eat to the Beat! concerts at America Gardens Theatre feature acts from many musical genres. Appearing for the first time on the Eat to the Beat! stage are The Pointer Sisters, The Orchestra starring former members of ELO and Gin Blossoms.

New Guest Rooms Can Be Booked for Vacations in 2012

Two new ways for guests of Walt Disney World Resort to live like their favorite Disney characters can now be booked for 2012 vacations. Building on the success of Pirate Rooms at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, new "Disney Story Rooms" -- Disney's Art of Animation Resort and the Royal Guest Rooms at Disney's Port Orleans Resort-Riverside -- are under construction.

Opening in early spring 2012, the Royal Guest Rooms at Disney's Port Orleans Resort-Riverside allow princes and princesses of all ages to stay where Disney royalty have stayed. Guests find regal touches left behind by some of their favorite Disney characters -- fiber optics special effects above ornately decorated beds, gold and crystal accents, custom linens and drapes, and in-room art and details including Princely banners and Princess friends. The 512 Royal Guest Rooms start at $189 per night.

Walt Disney World guests also can now book rooms at Disney's Art of Animation Resort, a brand new Walt Disney World Value resort opening in phases beginning early summer 2012. Disney's Art of Animation Resort will immerse guests into their favorite Disney stories -- including Disney/Pixar's Finding Nemo and Cars as well as Walt Disney Pictures' The Lion King and The Little Mermaid.

The one-of-a-kind resort will feature more than 800 standard guest rooms and more than 1,100 family suites (which sleep up to six people) at its completion. Standard rooms at Disney's Art of Animation Resort start at $94 per night and family suites start at $248 per night.

Renovated LEGO Imagination Center at Downtown Disney

When guests walk into the newly renovated LEGO Imagination Center at Downtown Disney Marketplace, they not only find a store with more space but also more options to build and create. The recently completed extensive renovation at the Walt Disney World Resort location has added nearly 3,500 square feet to the overall space.

Along with a separate playroom inside the store and new Master Builder Bar, the 3,000-square-foot outside play area is filled with LEGO blocks.

New iconic LEGO models now surround the exterior of the store, with favorite Disney/Pixar characters such as Buzz Lightyear and Disney classics Snow White, the Seven Dwarfs and others near each entrance. Guests also will find the classic LEGO dragon and guest family in the mix. Once inside, there's a LEGO model of Woody tipping his hat.

Store hours are from 9:30 am to 11:00 pm Sunday-Thursday and 9:30 am to 11:30 pm Friday and Saturday.

Lightning McQueen Joins the Cast at Lights, Motors, Action!

Lightning McQueen, star of Cars and Cars 2, will make his debut appearance at the Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios later this summer.

Look for his cameo when the stunt show director sets up a highlight reel dedicated to “one of the greatest race cars of all time.” But just as the crew leaves to set up for the next stunt demonstration, the highlight video feed is interrupted with a distress call from Mater, Lightning’s rusty sidekick. He warns the audience that secret agent Finn McMissile has issued a report of enemy spy activity at “these here coordinates.” Lightning McQueen speeds in to calm the audience down and explains that Mater is probably just telling tall tales again.

Just then, a mysterious black automobile appears on the stage and what follows is quite an animated game of cat and mouse.

Guests who wish to meet Lightning McQueen and Mater before or after the show can do so at the Winner’s Circle (formerly Luigi’s Garage), which features larger-than-life trophies and posters that depict famous races from around the world.

Nominations Open for the 2012 Disney’s Dreamers Academy

Plans are underway for the 2012 Disney’s Dreamers Academy with Steve Harvey and Essence Magazine. Parents, teachers, mentors and youth can nominate U.S. high school students ages 13-19 to attend this innovative outside-the-classroom educational and mentoring program. Nominations must be submitted by October 31, 2011.

Entering the search for its milestone fifth “class,” Disney’s Dreamers Academy continues to hold true to its mission to inspire and fuel the dreams of teens, help them discover a world of possibilities and help them prepare for the future. Each year, 100 students – selected from thousands of applicants – experience notable personal and professional advancement. Students participate in hands-on, full-immersion workshops related to a bevy of career paths ranging from Animation to Zoology. Each participant learns important interview skills, communication techniques and networking strategies.

It all takes place in an unusual and magical setting: The Walt Disney World theme parks. Both on stage and behind the scenes, the parks become vibrant ‘classrooms’ leading to career discoveries, the pursuit of dreams and fun memories to cherish for a lifetime.

Motivational speakers and celebrities share their stories and provide insight on how to achieve success and “DREAM BIG.” Dreamers have the opportunity to cultivate relationships with other students from across the nation while they gain first-hand knowledge from Disney experts and world-renowned entrepreneurs and executives.

Participants and a parent or guardian will receive an all-expense-paid trip to Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., where they will engage in life-changing sessions and indulge in all of Disney’s magical theme parks. The 2012 Disney’s Dreamers Academy will take place March 8-11, 2012.

2011 Candlelight Processional Celebrity Narrators Announced

It might be a bit early to think of Christmas shopping, but it’s never too early to begin planning a trip to the Walt Disney World for the holiday season. One annual Christmas event is the Candlelight Processional at Epcot.

This show combines the talents of three choirs, a live orchestra and a celebrity narrator, who together tell the Christmas story through a one-of-a-kind performance of song and scripture. In 2011 it will be offered from November 25 through December 30.

Small World Vacations LogoSue Says: Experience the Natural Wonders of Alaska on the Disney Wonder! By Sue Pisaturo, Owner of Small World Vacations

I researched and carefully planned my Alaskan Disney Cruise. I bought guidebooks, reviewed shore excursions, checked the weather and stocked up on waterproof gear – but still I was not prepared for the profound experience that lay in store for me on this journey.

Having grown up in the suburbs of New York City, there are certain iconic images etched into my subconscious – the Empire State building, Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, Times Square and the Statue of Liberty. I’m accustomed to driving no more than 10 minutes to get to the mall (there are four within 5 miles), movies, supermarket, restaurant or school. So, this Jersey girl was in for a major culture shock during my voyage to the Great White North. I had no idea how beautiful the world could be.

Photos of Alaska can’t compare to actually standing on the deck of the Disney Wonder as it sails through pristine waters dotted with blue translucent icebergs. Breathe in the crystal clear air and feel it touch your face as you pass snow-capped mountains, ancient glaciers, untouched forests and towering waterfalls. To witness such natural beauty is nothing less than a spiritual awakening. You are connected to the Earth and humbled by its grandeur. Add Alaska to your bucket list today!

Want to learn more? I’ve chronicled my amazing Alaskan experience, including shore excursions in Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan, dining at Palo and visiting Vancouver on the Small World Vacations Blog.

The Disney Wonder will be sailing to Alaska from May 21 – September 3, 2012. Most of the 2011 Alaska cruises sold out well in advance, so don’t wait to book. Plus, get an extra $100 onboard credit on select stateroom categories for 2012 Alaskan cruises when you make your reservation between July 15-28, 2011.

Small World Vacations has an exclusive offer for you: get up to $650 onboard credit if you book your Disney Cruise with one of our agents!

Are you sailing in a verandah stateroom in 2012?

Get an extra $50 onboard credit when you book select dates on the Disney Magic on a 4- or 5-Night Bahamian Cruise from Port Canaveral or a 5-Night Canadian Sailing from New York City.

Get an extra $100 onboard credit on select dates on the Disney Magic on 6-, 7- or 8-Night Caribbean or 8-Night Bahamian Cruises or select dates on the Disney Wonder on a 7-Night Mexican Riviera Cruise, 7-Night Alaskan or 6- & 7-Night Repositioning Cruises.

The extra onboard credit offer can be combined with the Small World Vacations Onboard Credit Offer of up to $650! Offer good on new bookings made between July 15-28, 2011.

Small World Vacations’ service and expertise are always free. Are you ready to set sail? Our agents are happy to prepare your no obligation Disney cruise price quote.

Disneyland (California) News New Characters at Disney California Adventure

There are new friends at Disney California Adventure park this summer! On June 25, the Wilderness Explorer Camp opened at Redwood Creek Challenge Trail, featuring Russell and Dug from the Disney•Pixar film, Up. The Ahwahnee Camp Circle will be the place where guests can participate in a special ceremony with Russell and graduate to Senior Wilderness Explorers. Also, as guests enter the trail, they will be met by Dug, the friendly dog. The trail features Wilderness Explorer activities through which young guests can earn Wilderness Explorer Badges.

On July 9, Phineas and Ferb will debuted their new show, Phineas and Ferb’s Rockin’ Rollin’ Dance Party, at Disney California Adventure park. The show is an interactive dance party featuring the Disney Channel favorites. Guests will have the chance to join in on dances and activities while a DJ spins songs from the series.

Adventureland Suite at the Disneyland Hotel

Disneyland recently announced the latest Signature Suite available at the Disneyland Hotel. The Adventureland Suite joins the Mickey Mouse Penthouse, the Big Thunder Suite, Pirates of the Caribbean Suite, Fairy Tale Suite and two regal suites. Staying in any one of these suites would be a once-in-a-lifetime, memorable experience!

The Adventureland Suite takes guests on the most luxurious safari ever. With the feel of an explorers’ camp from the 1930s, this suite features a master bedroom fashioned as a safari lodge with a claw-foot bathtub in the living area. In the master bathroom lies a grotto with a foot spa, steam and rain showers, and lighting and sound effects that make you feel like you’re in a rain forest or a savanna. Younger explorers will love the second bedroom, which makes you feel like you are sleeping in a safari tent.

The Asian/Indian-inspired main living area includes a wet bar, a flat-screen TV hidden behind artwork above the faux fireplace, and a “hidden” closet (hint: try the bookcase). When you are in this suite, it even sounds like you’re in the jungle: the doorbell “rings” with tiki gods playing drums, and – for the first time in a Disneyland Hotel suite – themed background music plays three separate tracks inspired by the Jungle Cruise, Disney adventure-themed movies and world music first created for Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

To learn more these suites or book one, contact Small World Vacations.

Disney Launches Website for Families Affected by Type 1 Diabetes

Lilly Diabetes has announced the launch of an innovative collaboration with Disney Online and Disney Publishing Worldwide that combines Lilly's deep understanding of diabetes with some Disney magic to provide inspiration, education and practical advice to families with children who have type 1 diabetes.

The companies have created a variety of resources for families, including a special online hub at DisneyFamily.com and a series of custom books by Disney Publishing Worldwide for children of various ages and stages of life with diabetes.

Each year, more than 13,000 young people in the United States are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. For both the child and family, the challenges of living with diabetes can be daunting. Through the collaboration, the companies hope to provide an empowering message for families with children who have type 1 diabetes -- changing the focus from what they can't do to what they can do.

Online Resources for Families on DisneyFamily.com

To help families add some magic to their everyday lives, a special online destination dedicated entirely to type 1 diabetes has been created on DisneyFamily.com. The site includes articles, videos and advice for those who are raising children with type 1 diabetes, and will highlight ways for families to establish a new routine and let kids be kids. It will cover important topics such as how to plan for vacations, sleepovers and extracurricular activities, as well as tips on how to talk to friends, teachers and coaches about type 1 diabetes.

Content will be refreshed monthly and contributors will include dietitians, psychologists, nurses and everyday families, making the hub a rich destination for parents and caregivers.

Custom Publications from Disney Publishing Worldwide

Lilly Diabetes and Disney Publishing Worldwide will launch a collection of custom books for children of various ages and stages of life with diabetes. The books, which will be released over several years and made available through select doctors' offices, focus on the many adventures of childhood with type 1 diabetes, such as returning to school after diagnosis, going to birthday parties and playing sports.

One such book is part of the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse series, and features Coco -- a charismatic and fun-loving monkey who has type 1 diabetes. Coco, along with Disney characters, helps readers understand that with planning, these families and children can still experience the fun and magic life has to offer.

Once Upon a Time Contest

To commemorate the collaboration and spark a national dialogue about diabetes, Denise Jonas, mother of the multi-platinum album selling and Grammy nominated Jonas Brothers, announced today the launch of the Once Upon a Time Contest. Having personal experience with raising a diabetic child after her son Nick was diagnosed at the age of 13,

Disneyland (California) News New Characters at Disney California Adventure
